How to Make Ground Beef for Stroganoff
- Roast the ground beef in a Dutch oven or deep skillet with olive oil.
- Add to the minced meat chopped onions and chopped garlic. Cook until it becomes light brown in colour.
- Add mushrooms to skillet and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Add the flour, stir to mix everything together and fry for another minute.
- Pour your broth and place any small pieces stuck to the bottom of the pan. Add heavy whipping cream,
- Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and bring to a simmer.
- Remove from heat. While stirring constantly, slowly add the sour cream.
How to Serve Ground Beef Stroganoff
Ground beef stroganoff is as versatile as the classic version. You can serve it with pasta, rice, buckwheat or my favorite mashed potato. You can even stir-fry the meat sauce on top of some roast potatoes. If you want to skip the carbs, pour beef stroganoff over some grilled veggies.
My Roasted Brussels Sprouts will do. To garnish, chop some fresh parsley or dill and sprinkle it directly on top. The herbs add a nice pop of color, but more importantly, they’re a welcome contrast to the thicker flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 median onion, diced
- 1 lb mushrooms, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Tbsp all purpose floor
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, adjust to taste
instructions
Heat a heavy, deep skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil. Add the ground beef and stir until the beef breaks up into small pieces. Add the mashed onions and garlic. Fry onions until translucent and golden brown.
Add the chopped mushrooms and fry for another 5 minutes.
Add the flour and stir until fully incorporated. Make sure to mix up any lumps that form. add these
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce,
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add sour cream. Stir to combine everything together and season to taste if needed. Serve over pasta, rice or potatoes.
